Hi Amora!
I just intuitively like to use the same stones as a grid because I feel they speak the same energy language- you can however use any stone as the basis for the grid- apartments are just like houses! The basic grid is the four outside corners- if you have neighbors upstairs I would definitely make extra effort to do 3 D gridding and engage the ceiling- use light fixtures, fans , tape etc to create 3 D shapes. xo Laura
